Spending time with each other to develop friendships, serve others, and grow in faith is one of the most important parts of our church life. We are a community who cares for one another as friends and enjoys spending time together.
When we gather outside of worship for fun or music or to work on projects, we truly get to know each other and become a part of each other’s lives. When difficult times come, we can count on each other to be there.
On the second Monday of each month at 7 pm, The Open Table gathers in the Church Parlor to reflect, nourish, laugh, share and learn about the faith journey from the LGBTQIA+ perspective. This is a small, safe, encouraging group.
As a partner with the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island, Canonicus Camp in Exeter, RI, holds special meaning for us. With over 308 acres of nature and a beautiful lake, it provides our church opportunities for overnight camping, retreats, boating, and hiking. We plan several events there each year, like Family Camping and our annual Outdoor Worship Service.
At Community, we believe in celebrating together and working alongside of each other. We enjoy frequent potlucks, dinners with special guest speakers, and time to build deeper relationships. We work together to decorate the church for special occasions or to create special events for our children and youth.
Each Wednesday at Noon, we share lunch and engage in deeper study and opportunities for spiritual growth. Most recently, we have studied Christian Mysticism, Healthy Spirituality, and Contemplative Spiritual Practices.
